Freedom of Choice

The NCB庐鈥Proximal Humerus Plating System allows controlled targeting of cortical and cancellous screws with polyaxial freedom. The system allows the surgeon to lock the screws at any time during the procedure by using locking caps that are threaded into the plate holes. This locking construct improves angular stability such as fractures in osteopenic bone.1*

System Features

The NCB庐鈥疨roximal Humerus Plating System is聽designed to provide聽an optimal solution for the treatment of complex fractures of the proximal humerus.

Polyaxiality

The聽NCB聽Plate Technology allows polyaxial screw placement (30掳 cone) with screw locking achieved through the use of locking caps that are threaded into the plate holes. The locking construct聽provides additional聽stability especially in poor bone quality.聽

Screw Options

The聽NCB聽Screws (solid and cannulated) are available with different types of screw thread, for cortical or cancellous bone. The screws designed for cortical bone have an increased core diameter and are聽designed聽with a double lead thread for fast insertion. Cannulated screws can be placed with high precision 鈥 no predrilling is required as they are self-drilling and self-tapping. 4.5mm cancellous and 4.0mm cortical screws are available.聽

Fracture Reduction

  • Before locking,聽NCB聽Screws can act as聽lag screws. Therefore,聽NCB聽Screws can聽be used for fracture reduction and apply interfragmental compression, a feature not offered with conventional locking systems.

Non-Contact Bridging

  • In the locked mode the聽NCB聽Plate acts as an internal fixator without contact between the plate and the bone surface, which聽is intended to minimize impairment to the periosteal blood supply. This Non-Contact Bridging concept can also be controlled through the use of 1, 2 or 3mm spacers, which are threaded into the plate holes prior to plate insertion.
